GREEN BUILDING CONCEPT
The buildings have a large contribution to global warming. The buildings emit 30% green house gases, consume 70% of energy and also are source of about 65% wastage.
The green building is basically a concept which focuses on constructing a building in such a way that efficiency of the energy resources is increased. While construction or maintenance of any building, we use different resources like energy, water, material and also generates a lot of pollution. As the resources usage and its impact on environment has become very large, a new concept named green building concept has evolved. It is also called sustainable building concept. The design of green buildings and the materials used are such that the building pollution becomes very low and also the energy bills reduce. Apart from water conservation, energy conservation and environment protection, use of renewable resources such as solar power etc and recycled products is boosted.
HOW THIS CONCEPT ACHIEVES ALL THIS?
The green building has solar protection provision which prevents heating of the room environment due to sunlight. This is made possible by special material usage, heat resistant paints and special window glasses. Also the smart energy management and proper ventilating contributes to the above effect. Hence we are reducing the loads on air conditioning system and hence energy is saved. The green roofs (as shown below) are used to absorb rain water etc to maintain the temperature of buildings. Also trees are used to shade windows to reduce heating by sun.
There is also a proper mechanism which helps in using the natural light to the maximum effect and hence reduces the energy (electricity) requirement for lightning in the buildings.
Also with the help of weather sensors, we can optimize the usage of solar protection system and hence can allow the heat inside buildings in winters.
The human wastage is used to create biogas plant. The waste water like dishwasher water, washing machine water etc, is used during construction of buildings, car washing, flush toilets etc after some water treatment. The rain water from the roofs of the buildings, roads is collected and used in many applications after treatment.
